I really need to learn to get better at badgering printers into doing my bidding; I am actually the worst at rolling over when they say “no, you have to commit to ordering an entire ream first” or “that extra proof will be $38 please”
like, I put ‘dealing with printers’ on my resume but I mostly meant ‘knowing how to prepare a proof’ and I’m pretty sure my supervisor is Not Impressed with my poor negotiation skills.

I got a proof back from the printer today and it was RED, augh, why the fuck don’t I have a pantone book here, now I’m gonna have to try and color correct on screen and get a new proof. :(
for those not keeping track, we currently have 76 full teams and 35 confirmed teams (based on me skimming through, so that may not be a totally accurate count).
that, plus 4 alchemiter teams, makes for 115 teams altogether; it’s likely that another 5-10 at least will be confirmed.
originally my projection for HSO 2012 was 90 teams. it’s almost certainly going to be upwards of 120.
…I’m going to need to rework the scoring system again, aren’t I.

Look, it’s really uncool to try and make this thing flop before you see more than a three-minute clip. No matter why they made it, or when, it’s obviously going to be pretty dissimilar to the BBC version (which is making people complain, for some reason? Even though copying the BBC characterization and look would be met with equal or greater resistance? idek)
This is my act of goodwill, as a BBC Sherlock fan and a potential Elementary fan. You can like two things at once, for different reasons! You can like them for the same reasons! You can totally avoid one thing because you absolutely loathe it while not actively trying to destroy it for the people who might like it!
You can stop flooding the tag with hate so people can get to nice graphics!okay one step at a time hereI could get into how great it is that a WOC has a great role for once, and how there are literally hundreds of other adaptations, including modern ones (and future ones and one where they are mice and an anime featuring Holmes as a little girl) and how this one is no worse. How it’s not actually erasing textual queerness because no matter how great the fanfic was, no matter how much it teased, BBC Sherlock itself was never queer. It “no-homo’d” all over the place pretty bad, in fact. And even if you disagree with me there, we will get to keep the BBC fanfic! We will get to keep the show! Nothing will change, except there will also be a show featuring Lucy Liu kicking ass that is totally unrelated to the BBC version!
So please. Take the olive branch, Sherlock tag. Let this thing have a chance to find its feet instead of raving all over it like a pack of wolves who like to say “WRONG” and “ANDERSON DID IT” a lot. It’s going to make the fandom look a lot better in the long run, instead of becoming “that one fandom that killed another one out of pure malice.”

I actually got a full 8 hours of sleep last night and I still feel p awful? I mean I think I’m coming down with something, which Cannot Happen holy shit. I just wrote out my to-do list for work and it fills an entire 3’x4’ whiteboard. and of course I totally haven’t dealt with any HSO stuff today aside from PR maintenance, answering asks and emails, that sort of thing.
my mood is pretty good, surprisingly enough! or I guess not that surprisingly considering that…I enjoy being overworked

I miss arting. I’ve been getting my professional design on in a very satisfying way, but I miss illustration. maybe when the new summer campaign my department is running gets more into the planning stage, I’ll be able to do a little character design, but right now I just can’t justify incorporating illustration into any of my work because it takes SO MUCH DANG TIME.

just ran the numbers, and it looks like out of 1500 signups, there were only 63 (51+12) people we couldn’t place in one of their top three choices.
of those 63, 25 (20+5) asked to be emailed (and we’ve already placed 5 of them on new teams), 7 (6+1) asked to be placed on Alchemiter, 15 (13+2) asked to be placed on English, and 16 (12+4) asked for their signup to be withdrawn.
overall, not too bad, I think! that’s 4.2% of sign-ups. also, in the latest incarnation of the rosters, there were only 8 errors on our part, which. I mean obviously it’s terrible for the 8 people who got accidentally displaced, but. I think a 0.53% margin of error is pretty understandable!
